Well, I've gotten very little done this week with my in-laws visiting, and a swap coming up - ::sigh:: - BUT today we had a welcome back picnic for my daughter's school which starts tomorrow. It was a ton of fun - SUPER crowded at the playground, probably a couple hundred kids! (Can you say "stressful" trying to keep track of YOUR kids!?) Here's a glimpse of my darling kids in the best weather we've had here in CT since, oh, SPRING! I LOVE the fall out here - for this transplanted Washingtonian - the autumn is a welcome delight in New England!! Heat, humidity, snow - not for me - BUT the autumn - FANTASTIC!
I am so excited to share it with you! I have been dying to use this great paper from Cosmo Cricket (Early Bird - Brunch), and Friday became that day! The Get Sketchy sketch of the week sealed the deal! The oval shape on the right inspired an egg - which I initially thought would drive my process into an egg to eat- making a cute homage to diners, brunch and friends. Then I became stuck - my egg shape completed, and nothing quick to complete the original egg thought : Egg ----> chick chick as in chic----> chick as in peep (as in,"my peeps" aka friends). Then I came upon this darling felt bird in flight from Close to My Heart. It was so sweet, so I began playing. What started out as a fun, hip, friend card, evolved into a sweet birthday card, probably for a baby. (I even toyed with the idea of going pregnancy with the oval - a la Project Runway episode 2 from Thursday night - if you saw that! lol :)
Then I found this super sweet poem that I included on the inside:
Birthday in summer,
brings the birds singing
on your porch,
Singing Happy Birthday,
with the sweet chirps
through the day.
by Celine Berghmans
And there it is.
My take on the Get Sketchy sketch #3. Enjoy! :)

I've seen a lot of blogs posting their crop areas - so I thought I'd give you a sneak peak into mine! It's fairly small and in the finished portion of our basement. Keep in mind, it is almost never this tidy, either! My in-laws are coming into town tonight and I needed it to be presentable, as their guest area is adjacent to my crop area. So this is my little getaway within my house! :)
