American Crafts + Scor-Pal :: Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY!

Hey everyone!! Happy St. Patty's Day!! Or Happy Saturday, March 17th - either way it's a great Spring day and the American Crafts Design Team along with the Scor-Pal Design Team have teamed up to bring you a fun blog hop on this fine Saturday!!

BloghopThe generous folks at Scor-Pal provided those of us on the AC DT with a Scor-Pal for today's hop! And let me say this, I've never owned a scoring tool before, outside of a bone folder. This tool is SO easy to use! I thought I would need my ruler to keep everything in line - nope! The grooves are perfect for keeping everything perfectly aligned and at just enough depth not to puncture your paper. It was fabulous, and I can't wait to use it again, and again! So, thank you Scor-Pal for providing us with this ingenious tool! AC_Jump_LO_AHI created a layout using the new American Crafts' Dear Lizzy, Neapolitan collection. I've seen a lot of projects utilizing the pinks and neutrals in this line, so today, in honor of St. Patrick's Day, and in honor of this beautiful hue in the collection, I decided to really play up the greens in my page. It's a subtle pop in the collection, but when pulled together, it's a really vibrant spring green which I thought was just perfect for this fun shot I got of my daughter in a mid-air jump this past week. AC_Jump_Detail3_Ah
I used my Scor-Pal to create my fan-like embellishments and flowers. I really wanted them to feel like rainbows so I scored in the opposite direction of the stripes (Lucky Laugh paper) at 1/4" increments on one side, and in between those scores 1/4" on the opposite side, creating an accordion fold every 1/8". AC_JumScorpal_AH
Once the paper was scored, I cut strips of paper to the width that I wanted the radius of each of my flower fans. I varied the width slightly to add interest and variety.AC_JumpDetailGrid_AH
For my rainbow fans, I simply tucked the ends underneath the paper underneath and adheared. To added stability I also added some machine stitching so that to ensure that they would stay put. But you could just as easily add more adhesive instead. On a couple of the rainbow fans, I even added brads which I attached through the entire back of the layout, for even further stability, and dimension.AH_Giveaway_AH
