Scrap Your Scraps Summer Challenge :: Week 5

Happy Sunday, everyone! Sorry this is a bit late today. I had a change of plans with my layout this morning, so I spent the last couple hours putting it together with a brand new photo that I took yesterday. It's of sweet little girl, who's 8, finally riding her bike (without extra wheels)!! It's been a long process, so I'm a bit excited about it!2Wheeels_Detail1_AHYou see, last year we bought her a new bike, because she's outgrown her bike with training wheels, and it was high time to hand it down to her brother. The stipulation was that there would be no training wheels added to the new bike. After a couple frightful tries, she decided she simply wasn't ready, and decided that bike riding wasn't her thing, yet. She took up scooter riding, which she quickly became a pro at, so I think it actually gave her a big confidence boost in the bike riding department.2Wheels_Detail2_AHWhen we got home from our month away, she decided to tell me she was "ready" to start the process of learning her bike. After a couple spur of the moment "I want to do it NOW" moments, of which I jumped at the chance to get her on the thing and finally get her to at least TRY, she finally got it! It didn't take long all in all and she is just THRILLED at her newly aquired skill. It really opens up so many opportunities for us as a family, and we are so excited about it!2Wheels_Detail4_AH
So, regarding the picture I used, we went to the elementary school nearby which has nice wide open spaces, and let her go! And she did! My husband and I were giddy as she attempted her first wide turns and got used to her brakes, without thrying to simply stop by jumping off the thing! 2Wheels_Detail3_AHSooo, long story short, I really wanted to work with one of the pictures I took yesterday for my scraps layout today. I love how the image really showcases that she's riding it through and through, from the angle to the shadow on the ground. I really like how it turned out. I have many more pictures, which include a very proud little girl who was beaming! For now, I just wanted to focus on the simplicity and accomplishment of the story.

Lots of scraps used today including, Studio Calico, Sassafras, October Afternoon, My Minds Eye, Pink Paislee, Crate Paper, Pebbles, Girl's Paperie, and Lily Bee. And some new items from SRM Stickers, Basic Grey, American Crafts, SMASH. I'm loving the color palette on this one!

Have you been playing along? If not, and you have some time, we'd love to have you play along! The next drawing is only a few weeks away, and I'd love to give away a huges pile o' goodies to a lucky participant! All you need to do is link up your creation onto this blog post and you're entered! Easy! I hope you play along! Have a wonderful Sunday! :)
