The other day, Crate Paper featured this fun little page I created using the new Farmhouse collection. With the upcoming onset of school starting here in most of the northern hemisphere, I wanted to show how this fall-themed collection could easily work for a school-ish page.
I tried to play up the more masculine tones from the collection, along with the woodgrains and apples which are decidedly school-feeling. These elements lend themselves perfectly for projects that are school oriented. In fact, they are going to be perfect for my 1st Day of School project I have in mind for my daughter's new teacher this year, who happens to be a male teacher. This collection isn't too cutesy in the way that some themed papers can be, so I think it will be really lovely....er, I mean, handsome. ;)One thing I am trying to do more with my pages, as you'll notice on this one, is write more journaling. I have neglected this portion of my pages for a couple reasons as of late.
1) I have very loop-y handwriting, and I tend to think that when I use it on a journaling card or whatever, in a brown or black marker, the focus goes immidiately to the handwriting, which I don't want,
2) I don't have good print style handwriting - so that's out,
3) I've been too lazy to take the 2-3 minutes it takes to do it on the computer.
So, with a couple recent projects, in which I had to create journaling, I became very aware of this missing, and very important, element on my pages. I don't want my pages to just be about the artwork. I want it to be about my thoughts and feelings as well. So, I'm pledging to do more journaling, even if it is on the computer! :D
Well, that about covers it for today! I have some fun things coming down the pike, annnnd, we have another installment of Scrap Your Scraps Summer Challenge coming up on Sunday! I hope you stop by! Have a wonderful weekend! ;D
