Hi everyone! I'm back today with a fun project that I've been promising my daughter for a month or so now. We're in the midst of re-doing the kids' rooms and hers is all things tropical inspired. Beautiful pool colored turquoises, greens and pinks are the main colors. In August we're going to paint her now light yellow room, to a soothing pool color. It's going to be really fun. So, inspired by Roree Rumph's adorable banner for her daughter's room, I thought I would do something similar for my daughter's new oasis.
I primarily used American Craft's Margarita collection, which has been an instant favorite of mine at first sight. Along with a few touches from Basic Grey's Lauderdale chipboard and a couple of Pebbles, Inc. felt butterflies, all of which work beautifully together to create a fun, vibrant, tropical banner for this nearly 9 year old's room. I backed each panel with the foam core I had left over from the Elmer's Craft & Tell from last month. It worked perfectly! (Thanks for the inspiration, Roree!!)
I just LOVE all the glitter in the AC papers in this collection. Of all collections to have glitter, a tropical, watery one is ideal in my opinion. It works perfectly, and I know when Lauryn see's this, it will (I hope) have all the "bling" she loves. Usually, she tells me everything I make needs more color and more "bling". Hopefully this will be sufficient for her girly needs! :D
I finished off the banner with some great trim I found at Joann Fabrics. It's the perfect color and adds that additional tropical feel, like a hula skirt, that this girly sign needed to feel fresh, airy and vibrant, just like her room. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I'm crossing my fingers she does too. She's at her granparents house now, and this will be unveiled to her tomorrow. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed it fits the bill. ;)
This is the full, view, but it's not a great photo - still trying to work out the best places in this house to shoot, but it works. It will look great on her white door back at home, it will really "pop"!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! ;D
