Today is the last day of school in our town. I didn't have a major project created for my daughter's teacher, but I did have a little something that I was able to put together in fairly order this morning. I got this cute little pencil holder a couple weeks back at the $1 section at Target, and thought it would be perfect for an altered piece for my kids teachers. Luckily, it was a cinch to cover with paper, because I kinda left this till the last minute!
I took the front frame portion of the cup off and covered it, too, so the whole thing looks seamless and like it was made this way originally. I didn't have time to take pics of the before, but I wished I had, so you could see the transformation. But, I covered the little cup in Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer papers, used some fun pieces from October Afternoon's Report Card stickers, and the apple and sentiment are from SRM Stickers. Easy peasy. Plus it looks cute, too! I simply filled it with pencils and things left over from teacher appreciation week that I had, and put a handwritten note inside an envelope tag where I then inserted a Starbucks gift card. This particular teacher loves sunflowers, so I tried to create a sunflower in the corner and pick up those colors throughout the piece. For something that was such a quick creation, it turned out pretty cute. And here are my two little munchkins (this morning) on the last day of school. I can't believe they'll be in 4th grad and kindergarten in just a few months. Sigh. They are growing up so fast. Well, once I pick up my daughter off the bus, examine her report card and ask how the last day was, I'm packing them up and we're headed to the ice cream shoppe for a celebratory cone! Let the summer festivities begin! :D
