Crate Paper :: New Release Projects

Outforpub_logoHappy Sunday morning everyone! Today I thought I would share my contributions to the Crate Paper blog from this past Friday. I was only required to create one card for each of the two collections that I was introducing, Neighborhood (above) and Portrait. However, when I created one of each of my cards, I just didn't think that they would stand alone as super representations of the whole collection. So I made two cards from each, showing the contrast and depth to each collection.

So, here today, I'm also showing you the cards individually, because there are some great things to point out about these beautiful new collections from Crate Paper! First up, Neighborhood! This line is right up my cute-loving alley!! The colors are sublime and right on-point with current trends. Have you seen the Pantone color for 2011? It's called Honeysuckle and it is very close to the pink featured in this line - gorgeous!

Have you noticed the buttons? Those are Crate buttons!! Yep, Crate is introducing a menagerie of fabulous buttons that coordinate perfectly with each of the new collections. And how about the ribbon? That's Crate Paper, too!! On the first card, I used the pink elastic ruffle ribbon behind my accent cut (also NEW! and fabulous for journaling or card making), and on the 2nd card, I trimmed my jumbo aqua felt trim to create a simple scallop border to my "Greetings" card. It 's all so seamless now!

Next up, Portrait. It's okay, let's all do a group :::sigh::: together! It's utterly swoon-worthy, this line! I am NOT one for traditional wedding papers - blech-! But when I saw this, I nearly cried. I have been married 11 years and have not scrapped a single one of our wedding photos. Partly because I've never found anything remotely worthy to scrap them on. I'm thinking this line will be gorgeous for getting started.(I have over 700 pictures to scrap!) It has just the right amount of formalness grouped with a casual feel that is totally up my alley. I'm not.formal.at.all. We got married on a beach in Hawaii in our bare feet for crying out loud! :) I wore pink Converse mules to my reception! Yep, that's more my style! ;)

This collection is filled with gorgeous creams, tans, blacks, greys and pops of GORGEOUS yellows, reds and teals. You can take it very formal or much more casual. And to top it off, it's not just a wedding collection! Nope, Crate made some very smart moves with the design of the collection, creating elements that were styled more for everyday use as well. So if you are looking for an elegant yet casual and even whimsical line, Portrait is perfect!

The ribbons in this collection are gorgeous! Filled with laces and metallics, it covers the gammut of formal and casual. And the buttons are divine!!! For my introductions, I used a silver metallic stitching thread to coordinate with the silver in the ribbon and buttons. I really love the formality it brings. Then there's the whimsy factor. Look at that layered chipboard! WOW - how fabulous is that! It's the show stopper of the layered chipboard pieces in this collection for sure! I added a little more whimsy to this decidedly formal card by letting my whisps of silver thread "fly" off from behind the buttons.

That covers my projects . . . for now! ;) I've got lots coming up with these super lines as well as the other two gorgeous lines from Crate Paper, Emma's Shoppe and Toy Box!! I can't wait for that!! If you haven't already gone to the Crate Paper blog and left comments on the 2 introduction posts from Thursday and Friday, do it now! You could wind your choice of the new collections!! EeeK!! How exciting is that??

For now, I hope you've enjoyed seeing two of the new collections from Crate Paper and are off to enjoy your day!! I'll be back tomorrow with something "sweet" to share in preparation fro Valentine's Day! ♥A
