This past summer I FELL.in.LOVE with Sassafras's new line, Indie Girl. So fresh, patterned and filled with delicate blues. I never really had the time I wanted to dig in and play with it as I would have liked until I decided to create this wintery layout a couple months ago. Again, I fell.in.love! It's cool blue and pink tones are perfect for a winter themed project. I decided to do a snowy layout with my little girl from last winter and I loved everything about it back when I first created it, except the title work. So it's been sitting in my craft room waiting for a little TLC in the title department. So, since today was the first day in over 2 weeks I've had to sit down and craft, I thought I'd address the title on this sweet page.I really love how it turned out. For such a pattern-heavy layout it finally feels more balanced and centered to me. It really needed the dark weight of the small green Thickers.
I find I don't usually go back to layouts that are un-finished and I am hoping to make that more of a priority this year. I have a couple albums filled with half-finished layouts and I really need to get on the ball and complete those this year! Do you ever do this?
On another note, yesterday I met one of my goals for (2010 and) 2011! Not bad for January 3rd! My MIL was staying with us (she left this morning) and she spent the whole afternoon with me teaching me how to knit! She successfully taught my daughter (and even my husband!) over the past week, so it was my turn!
Here's what I got done:Not bad for a first timer! I only know the knit stitch right now, but I want to master that without holes, before moving onto the purl stitch. There's a few holes, and added stitches, but I am having a ball and I am loving the opportunity to work with fibers. I have always been a lover of fiber arts, so I am so excited to be learning this new skill!!
When we went to the yarn shop this weekend, I just wanted to roll around in all the beautiful color and texture! So much inspiration, I could hardly stand it! I bought this beautiful blue 100% merino wool and when I finish my scarf, I cannot wait to wear it because it is absolutely SO soft!! I've been lucky enough to have been taught by my wonderful MIL who just learned a year ago, and she's already a magician with the needles!. She was working on this sweater for her husband and it was unbelievable! I hope to get that good, but I have a feeling that with my other passion for paper, it will take me a bit longer. ;)
Well, I need to skee-daddle for today, but over the next couple days I'll be revealing the finished pages to my Crate Paper/Re-Purposed December Mini Album. I have lots of pictures to fill it with and I can't wait to get it to it's final version to show you!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful January day! ;)
