It's another week at Practical Scrappers and this week the focus is on STITCHING!! This is one of my favorite techniques! I have been aching to do this handstitched snowflake for ages! This was the PERFECT opportunity! All I did was found a snowflake pattern that I liked, and sketched it with pencil on the back-side of my cardstock. Then at all the meeting points, I pierced a hole with my piercing tool, and from there I begun threading my snowflake, making every attempt to make my needle go down through the top of the card versus coming up, to leave less of a hole mark in the cardstock. It wasn't always possible, but I really love how it turned out! I also incorporated machine zig zag machine stitching which adds to the old country feel.
I love the color combination and I think that the stitching adds such a "homespun" flair, especially to a Christmas card. These are actually the colors that I decorate our home in for the holidays - very little black, but here and there. It's mostly red, white, silver and natural. Honestly, this is one of my favorite Christmas cards I've made, and I think I'm going to make a whole series of them for my personal Xmas cards - sooo it is also one of my submissions for Moxie Fab World's latest challenge - Christmas in the Old Country - this is just one of my submissions - more to come soon! ;) TFL!
By the way, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for lil' ole me at Sketchy Thursdays - I guess I was a long shot, but you've got to start somewhere, right?! I'll be back later this week, with Moxie Fab creations and a couple of layouts! Yeah, I can't wait! If you are on your way to Thanksgiving festivities (in the US) have a wonderful holiday!
