It's a "G-Radient" Day! Happy World Making Card Day!

Happy World Card Making Day!! WCMD is a new holiday for me. If you didn't already know, I am a scrapbooker who has just begun my journey in the card-making world in the last couple months, so design-wise I am still experimenting on finding my "style"and I'm having a ball in the process! I am happy to be working on cards on this great day, and I'm thrilled that I have discovered this fun extension to my scrapbooking hobby!

Today I am working on a couple cards I'm really excited about! Both the projects I have been working on are playing with gradient color - ooooh, how chic! The first card was using the focus on Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love (striped) paper. This paper alone, is the reason I love this pack so much!! I love stripes (and polka dots) and this pattern has had me hooked from the onset, so I knew I wanted to do something with it at some point.

I did a couple different things with this card. First, I used CTMH's Liquid Glass as the television screen by covering the entire surface of the striped paper behind the chipboard with LG. I let that dry completely, then I used rub-ons on the top of the surface of the Liquid Glass (honestly I wasn't sure if it would work!) and it turned out perfectly!

Secondly, I used wire from Making Memories to create the television signals and antennae. With the "signals" I manipulated the wire into the word "love". For a while I was stumped on how to affix this - then it dawned on me to pierce small holes into the cardstock, insert the wires into the inside of the card and tape them down. This makes it look clean and without any adhesive showing. When I go to give this card away, I'll then put a blank piece of cardstock on the inside to hide the tape and wire. Also, with this wire, it was very thin and wasn't showing up very well against the dark kraft, so I took some brown Stayz On ink, and with a q-tip lightly added some brown to the wires so that they would stand out a little more. It worked!

Well that's it for now! I am submitting this card as well as the next one that I will be posting tomorrow into Moxie Fab World's Gradient challenge. Head on over there now and take a look at all they have going on for World Card Making Day! It's totally fab!
